In Scientology we have a chart which shows a way one can precisely evaluate human behavior and predict what a person will do. This is the Hubbard Chart of Human Evaluation. (Download as one large page or multiple pages for printing .) The Tone Scale below is a numerical scale (scaled to show relative position). The vast majority of emotional tones a person experiences can be found somewhere on this scale. 40.0 Serenity of Beingness. 30.0 Postulates. 22.0 Games. Every person has a chronic or habitual tone. He or she moves up or down the Tone Scale as he experiences success or failure. These are temporary, or acute, tone levels. A primary goal of Scientology is to raise a person’s chronic position on the Tone Scale. Objects or animals or people which assist survival, Using knowledge of the Tone Scale, however, you would recognize the emotion one-half to one full tone above the person, communicate in that tone and thus bring him up to higher tones. By moving up the scale gradiently it is possible to help someone overcome fixed conditions and regain a more happy and vital outlook. For example, you could say a person is at 3.5 (Strong Interest) or at 1.5 (Anger). Across the top of the chart, from left to right, are the characteristics that you can observe in people.
